LYNN KUBINEC Heart of a Dancer MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIPS
Lynn Kubinec, a devoted adult dancer at the Dallas Ballet Center for more than ten years, passed away on July 6, 2007. She had battled cancer for several years and died peacefully at her home near Merriman Park. Lynn was a loyal fan of ballet, a dance enthusiast, and a patron member of the Dallas Ballet Company for many years. She loved contributing to the arts, especially supporting the endeavors of DBCo and the company’s mission for young pre-professional dancers. She avidly attended our Nutcracker performances, Bravo! Ballet, and cheered us on whenever we performed at the Dallas Morning News Dance Festival or other performances. She had a very successful professtional career with Texas Instruments and always made sure her donation to DBCo was matched by the TI matching program plan. Lynn was honored by election to the Member Group Technical Staff at TI and her experience in software development and excellent engineering sense were invaluable in the start up of new networking products at TI. She managed software teams in the US, Europe and Asia.
Her greatest passion, however, was for dance. Honoring her last wishes, Lynn graciously gave money to the Dallas Ballet Company to be used as an ongoing scholarship for dancers with a true heart and passion for dance. To honor her, a scholarship through the Dallas Ballet Company has been established in her name. This scholarship is chartered with supporting a dancer at the Dallas Ballet Center who has shown an amazing desire to dance, overcome significant hardships in the pursuit of their art, and has a passion to perform; it is not based solely on the merit or talent of the individual.
